Charlotte started with the STR Group in 2016 as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant for our Built Environment brand, Stride.
“I’ve always had a passion for fitness from an early age and when I finished school my focus naturally was to work within the fitness industry. I studied to be a fitness instructor and a sports massage therapist at Southdowns College, and secured an apprenticeship alongside my studies to be a personal trainer with Roko Health Club.
I left Roko to join the army. I passed selection with an A Grade for a female within the Royal Artillery (which is good apparently), but after 6 months of thinking about leaving my family I decided this career was not a good move for me.
I then spent another 2 and a half years at Nuffield. Most of my time at Nuffield was spent motivating people during LES MILLS classes such as Body Combat and Grit.
After a total of 5 years in the Fitness industry, I wanted to try something different. I felt that I had reached the ceiling in the fitness industry and I had no more room to progress. I wanted to drive my career forward in something that could be equally rewarding but give me that new challenge. I was approached by a recruitment agency, where they spoke to me about a possible career as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant. I was with this recruitment agency for 6 months and although I enjoyed the recruitment industry, I felt that that level of recruitment was not for me – which is when my career at STR began.”

I’ve always needed a goal, a focus, something I could aim towards. It was clear from the very start of my career that the opportunity at STR is endless and in under 3 years I have been promoted 3 times and now have a personal development plan to reach Operations Manager.”
