As one of the UK’s leading specialist recruitment companies, we are excited to announce investment in additional office space at our Portsmouth Headquarters. We will be doubling our existing footprint to accommodate new hires and facilitate business growth.

The newly acquired offices will undergo extensive remodelling to make sure they are inspiring, environmentally friendly and above all, a great place to work, ensuring they have a positive effect on our employees’ mental health and overall wellbeing. Facilities include large, bright, fully equipped kitchens and quiet break out rooms, state of the art meeting areas, dedicated video-conferencing pods, and showering facilities to encourage cycling and running to work, as well as lunchtime exercise. A dedicated training facility will boast the latest tech to support our Training Academy, where new employees will undergo a structured programme to give them the tools to forge a successful career in the recruitment industry.

Whilst this announcement seems to be bucking the current trend for companies to give up office space in favour of homeworking, the recruitment industry thrives on person-to-person contact and networking. Steve Saunders, Group Commercial Director, explained, “We surveyed our employees to understand their preferences in terms of agile working, and the majority were very much in favour of a return to the office in some capacity. Some expressed a preference for hybrid working and STR are pleased to continue to support this.” All the Group’s employees are also set up with the facility to work from home, to ensure we remain flexible and responsive to everyone’s circumstances.

The new space will house dedicated offices for our architecture brand urban and life sciences division Blackfield Associates, as well as the Group’s entire Shared Services department, enabling our projected growth in headcount within these sectors.

Our larger premises footprint will enable the doubling of our headcount over the next few years and ‘COVID-proof’ our working environment, should we be hit with another wave.

Clive Hutchings, CEO, added, “I am immensely proud of our employees. This investment represents the business’s commitment to its staff and clients and puts the group in a great position to flourish as we emerge from the pandemic stronger and more determined than ever.”

To help achieve our growth objectives, we are currently hiring graduates or graduate equivalent talent to join our next training academy.
